Reading UK: Ebb & Flow, the brand-new duo of luxury apartment buildings in the heart of Reading’s vibrant town centre, have announced the first events within their community programme.

A core part of its benefits programme for local residents, Ebb & Flow offer so much more than a place to sleep. Instead, the development’s vision is to create its own budding community of young professionals, families and students.

The community programme will kick start with events dedicated to Ebb &. Flow’s Neighbourhood Heroes – a scheme promoting independent businesses in and around Reading such as Thames Lido, Siren Brewery and Blue Collar Corner. This will be followed by a wellness event, a pre-cursor to a programme of health and fitness classes including yoga and HIIT sessions for residents. Both activities will commence late August, once the first wave of residents have moved in, and will be followed by a series of community events and programmes in the forthcoming months.

Ebb & Flow’s events programme is just one of the ways the development aims to nurture a true feeling of community amongst its residents. Alongside this, they have established a series of public and co-working spaces, such as roof terraces overlooking the outstanding Chiltern Hills (on which residents will find Alveóle beehives), amongst other pockets of greenery to boost Reading’s biodiversity.

Before starting construction on Ebb & Flow, the developers (Lincoln Property Company and MGT) wanted to make sure the newly established area would offer something more to Reading’s current community. They carried out extensive research into the existing climate and spoke to local businesses and residents about what they believe are the next steps for Reading town centre. One of the biggest points raised was the addition of shared, community spaces, available for everyone to use. Often, groups of likeminded people don’t have a place to go and share their thoughts with others, resulting in feelings of isolation or disconnection.

The shared spaces within the development are aimed at both the residents and local businesses as well as the general public. These have been designed by Vawdrey House, and the furniture provided by The Conran Shop. The residents of Ebb & Flow are invited to build relationships with their neighbours, and the community of the building is as much a priority as the individuals. Often people feel safer and more secure at home if they know their neighbours around them. Knowing you have a shared  community on your doorstep but your own personal space at the same time is an added bonus to a tenancy at Ebb & Flow. Every new tenant who moves in is given a welcome pack, with the contents provided by Nood Stores, along with a personal meeting with the community manager to introduce their new facilities and community programmes.

Ebb & Flow place community at their core, with consumers at the heart when designing the shared spaces of the development, with multiple outdoor spaces boasting places to sit and relax, areas to socialise with friends, and spots to feel immersed in nature. According to the Telegraph, venturing outside is proven to be one of the best ways to boost your mental health. Once the community programme is up and running in September 2023, Ebb & Flow will be hosting a multitude of social gatherings and clubs within these outdoor spaces.

The community in Station Hill will also benefit from their own cinema rooms, private gym, shared and private dining rooms, cleverly designed co-working and WFH spaces, with unlimited coffee provided all day long. Social events are held regularly during weekdays and weekends, and residents are invited to use the club lounges to relax and unwind whenever they choose. The residents are also invited to take part in book clubs and running clubs, amongst the aforementioned fitness and wellness classes. If you’re a pet owner, your beloved animals will have access to the ‘Bark Bar’ in the lounge area.

Ebb & Flow’s community manager, Tony Bullen, stated:

Ebb & Flow offers something unique to the local community in Reading; a two-acre development determined to diversify and introduce more green areas is exactly what we think is needed in Reading. We’ve made sure to do thorough research into the existing neighbourhood and we know this will not only benefit the already vibrant, lively town, but transform it into a sought-after destination for young professionals and families.

‘Ebb’ will welcome its first residents from 7th August 2023 and ‘Flow’ is on track to complete by December 2023. More  information on the apartments and community programmes can be found at ebb-and-flow.co.uk.
